As a contributor for the official Star Wars site, a childhood spent as a card-carrying member of the space epic's fan club is put to good use. Recent stories include coverage of Star Wars Celebration Orlando, a study guide for Rogue One, behind-the-scenes details from the designers of new product lines and exhibitions, and the debut of a new feature highlighting Most Impressive Fans. Occasionally, I also lend a certain point of view to discussions.
The epic space opera from a galaxy far, far away has been treasured by fans for 40 years, inspiring some of the great minds who now serve as influencers behind the next generation of films, animated shows, and products. In a recurring feature on the official Star Warssite, we highlight some of the most passionate fans on the planet and the uniquely creative ways they pay homage to the saga. As Darth Vader would say: "Impressive. Most impressive."
The new Forces of Destiny animated micro-series offers Star Wars fans new and old bite-sized adventures with some of the saga's most formidable heroines. The premise is simple — it's not just the big moments in life that define us. Character truly comes down to the choices we make and the actions we take in our day-to-day lives.
When the episodes debut, I break down my favorite moments forStarWars.com. What's your favorite Forces of Destiny adventure so far?
In 2014, I joined the freelance staff at "the bible of the book business," Publishers Weekly, interviewing authors of children's and young adult literature, penning features about industry trends, and reviewing forthcoming titles.
In addition to working as a contributor for Disney and Lucasfilm, my book reviews, essays, and other writings in the nerd niche have or are slated to soon appear on a variety of other sites including Coffee with Kenobi, FANgirl Blog and Geeked Out Nation.
Since 2006, I've worked as a hard news journalist covering a range of topics for Pennsylvania's Press Enterprise, in print and online. Award-winning stories were often culled from the crime and social issues beat, including an interactive package examining the scourge of methamphetamine abuse, the account of a child molestation survivor, and an in-depth look at food stamp recipients and the stigma they face. Other notable contributions include off-beat profiles, field reporting during a flood, and enterprise and investigative work into police corruption.
